Darioush Darius II Wine Label ~ Raster to Vector Conversion

Darioush Darius II Label Art
This was one of the more challenging projects I have tackled. This image originally began as a photograph of a Middle Eastern tapestry, I believe, that was incorporated into Darioush Winery’s Darius II label. Darioush has a very unique style, and this particular label is no exception.
This vector image was created in a simple manner, but due to the complex nature of the bitmap image, it was no simple undertaking! It basically came down to tracing all of the black, green, and gold outlines in the image, and ignoring the color fills. When these traced outlines are placed over the background layer, the resulting image is then reversed for etching. The etching process then creates the black portions of the image as the recessed areas of the bottle, and the white portions are raised above the background. The colors are then filled in, and the raised outlines are then painted to match.
